An occupational hazard that befalls English teachers in Wuxi in Winter is sore throats. It seems every teacher at HyLite has gotten one sometimes this winter. The cure? Antibiotics for the throat.
I have been pronouncing Madoff wrong. I had been saying Mad - Off to the students. It wasn't till yesterday that I had heard the man's name pronounced by media - I had been reading on the Internet about him. The correct or common pronunciation sounds like Made-off.
There are local women who prey on foreigners. One of our trainers almost got suckered in by one till we told him.
Most of our students went to supper on New Year's Eve but few if any stayed up till midnight.
