A student in my class, this evening, told me that the Chinese government is contemplating stimulating domestic demand (the line is that since international demand is sagging, China can hope to stimulate domestic demand to spur on economic growth) by bringing back the Golden week holiday in October. The Chinese government has recently changed the national holidays by shortening two of the three week-long holidays and having more shorter holidays throughout the year. But the economic slowdown has caused the government to reconsider the plan.
Imagine: spur on the economy by having more holidays! If it works, I am all for it.
