 Rain, rain!  Go away!

Stomach pain, stomach pain! Go away! (While I’m at it.)

Happy February Day rare readers!

I hate how I can’t take good photos from this apartment while it’s raining.

Last evening, I went out but I should have stayed home.  I was feeling comfortable.  Going out just aggravated everything.

The fog is thick, but not as thick as it was earlier today.

I listened to a podcast where Tucker Carlson interviewed Russell Brand as I was making PPTs for next term.

I also listened to a podcast where it was suggested that flight MH370 crashed because of some lithium battery cargo catching on fire.  Plausible theory?  Who knows?

Can’t decide if I want to keep working or go back to lying down or laying down.  One way that the body can make a nagging pain go away is to have you feel nagging pain in another part of the body.  Now my stomach and abdomen is driving me crazy.  My heel not so much.

Reflect on the agony in the garden and the crucifixion.

This is the view looking south this morning.  You can see Huijia Road if you look hard enough.

I’m reading this book about the Russian Revolution.  It discusses how so many people died and why they died, but it doesn’t tell us who survived and why.  And what portion of the population died in the Stalinist terror?  You read about all the killings and wonder how Russians didn’t go extinct.

I’m also reading an anthology of HST journalism.  He’s a good writer who should have studied the Russian revolution.  Perhaps he did, but he makes no reference to it.

9:11 PM

Do I look like I am about to die?  I hope not.  But to be on the safe side, I publish this pic into the record,

It being foggy outside, I can’t take a view picture, so I offer instead my ugly fsce, my serious expression and my unkempt beard.

 It rained last night.

This is looking south.  The other side of the apartment faces the Changjiang River.  (This is to remind myself.)

I just listened to a podcast about Evelyn Waugh.  Apparently, he prayed to die, and did so one hour after mass which was a good way for him to go.  The timing of listening to this, for me, was auspicious.  Since I had the operation last year, I have felt old.  And the hobbling I’ve had to do on account of my sore heel, has made me feel half-dead.  Well, I can’t pray for death.  Tony has important decisions to make about his life.  I hope I can instill that realization in him.

I just seen some video of the E. G. Carroll woman.  She’s nuts and she can’t hide the fact that the case, she was party to, was lawfare and political.

A northern view this morning.  It’s a rainy day and the southern windows are foggy.

Last evening, we went to a Lanzhou Noodle place in a nearby mall.  I was underwhelmed by it.  There were no fried noodles on their menu,

So, the poop city team will go to the Super Bowl.  The Lions coach made a horrendous decision that let the poopers back into the game.

Looking Notth this morning on account of the southern condensation.

I just extended my Duolingo streak to 1464.

The Chiefs beat the Ravens.  I’m fine with that.  The Ravens are a bastard franchise that was stolen from Cleveland.  The Ravens were also dressed in their home field pajamas.

I wasn’t going to get up at 4:00 AM to watch that game,  I did listen to a Dave Collum interview till late.

The Lions are beating the 49ers.  As far as laundry goes,  it is not a compelling matchup.  I can watch the game on a Chinese app.  During commercials, the Chinese apps shows highlights from the NFL season; not the commercials that I have heard are full of racial bias.

The lighting at this time of day is nice.  There is no glare to make me want to point the camera north.

A lazy day but I did work through the work book for my ESL class,

I sent this message to selected people on WeChat;  I had a dream where I ate an 8,886.45 meal but I only had 8,873.20. Could you lend me the 13.25?  This would be a good line if a girl I sent the message to asked me why I was asking her.  “Well, you’re the girl of my dreams!”

I love lambasting people who haven’t retired from Wordle,  When I called a three-guesser Trumpean, that really annoyed one wordler.  He said his TDS was not irrational.

Anyway, more than ever, Trump has to win the 2024 Presidential Election.  He didn’t start as a martyr, but he is taking on the sins of America.  He is becoming Jesus like,

Below is a photo that describes me in my twenties and thirties:

Too much glare on the south side so a view from the north side.  Notice the building shadows.

Interesting it was to hear Tucker having a discussion with Conrad Black and Jordan Peterson.

I was up earlier than the time above.  What I did when I woke up was take a video for AKIC Daily Video and forget to take a photo.  Ooops!

I listened to the speech Tucker made in Edmonton.  It hit all the right notes.  One thing about Tucker is that he would make an excellent and stereotypical Canadian.  Another word that pops to mind when thinking of Carlson is civilized.  He talks about God and one gets the impression that his opponents could redeem himself.

The condensation has cleared, so I’m back to taking photos of the view from our bedroom.

Now, I got a sore back and a sore foot and a sore wrist.  It’s what God wants.  I hope it serves a higher purpose.

This morning the windows I had been taking photos from were covered with condensation.  So, I’ve taken a photo from the kitchen.

So the picture above is facing North.  Till now, my views have been looking South,

My wife says Tony and I will go to the Jiangyin apartment to get stuff and to bring stuff.  I look forward to the drive and just having stuff to do.

I look on my IPhone eager to get news from Texas.

I’m listening to the Z Blog Power Hour.  The Z man so hated Mitt Romney. that he voted for Kennedy when Romney ran against Teddy for the Massachusetts senate seat.  Interesting.

I get inspiration from Joe Namath and Bobby Orr and so, I don’t feel so bad about my sore heel making me hobble.  Those two had their careers ruined by bad legs. And I even recall Micheal Jordan had a foot problem that could have ended his career prematurely.  Thinking of this, I say it’s glorious to be a gimp.

There was some Canadian liberal party who protested Tucker Carlson’s visit to Canada.  He wanted some sanction imposed on Canadians who organized or the politicians who meet Tucker.  That was predictable.

Civil War on account of what is happening in Texas with the state - federal dispute over border enforcement?  Probably not.  But dare to dream.

I’ve been sitting in the same spot, perusing my English textbook, since the last view entry.

I trying to come up with more Chuck Norris jokes.  I thought of one where Chuck Norris goes to  France and the French suddenly beomr polite and very appreciative of his French.

Super Bowl hope:  Lions against the Chiefs.  For the money I’d bet:  49ers against the Ravens.  What could happen to spite me:  Chiefs against the 49ers or Ravens against the Lions.

Do you know that three of these four cities are third world hellholes?  The exception maybe being Kansas City.

I took the above photo from the more or less same place that I took this morning’s view photo.  You can see that the sky has become gray.

I am at the window sill of our bedroom.  I can relax here (you can see a video of this on my YouTube channel: @wuxiandis) and hunch over my English textbooks as I prepare for the second term.  I can listen to a podcast or watch traffic if I need to think or daydream.

And what am I thinking about?  Will the kids be able to handle the material?  Will Texas spark a second US civil war?  Can the Chiefs beat the Ravens?  What to do this weekend?  Is it worth the bother to try to make friends?  Is the light traffic I see at the Malls a bad sign for the Chinese economy?  Can the Lions and 49ers both lose the championship game?  Is there hope for a kind of Gonzo Journalism? Who can I persuade?  Will I see anyone this holiday?

Four Years Ago, I Started This Streak

January 2020 is when the lockdowns started in China and when I started this streak.  A lot has happened in that time.  I’ve lost my faith in a lot of things of this Earth.

I wish I could have been as devoted to maintaining this streak as I should have been to maintaining my soul.

I took this photo immediately upon getting out of bed.  I arose and simultaneously pulled away a curtain and pointed,

A nice view.

Now, I will make history.

Perhaps the light on the road makes this view photo, taken from the bedroom window, interesting.

Today was a damp squib of a day.  I drove my son to the subway station.  I dropped off and then picked up my wife from her work.  I played with some things in the apartment.  I uploaded three videos to YouTube.  I took the subway for the purpose of taking it and seeing how the extension of the line to Jiangyin was changing. I extended my Duolingo streak to 1460.  Tomorrow will mark a milestone as my streak will be a full four years.  I listened to some Catturd podcasts and Tucket Carlson’s interview with Gord the trucker.  I didn’t pray a full Rosary.  I should have read more.

I know that a sizable portion of Canadians object to Tucker Carlson’s visiting  Canada and telling us we need to be liberated.  I don’t.  I welcome his visit.  Of course, these same Tucker-hating Canadians would not object if some BLM figure came up North to chide us for our treatment of the natives.  Or if Barack Body Odor came North to praise us for our stupid progressivism.

Should this be the daily view from the Wuxi Apartment?  It is from the most Left hand side of the Veranda window.  You can see Metro Line #1, but there is no distinguishing natural features like the hills I can see in Jiangyin.

I may well take varying views where glare is eliminated or you can see trains or boats or beautiful skies,

First night spent in the new apartment,  We’re not used to it.  I don’t know how to crank up the heat when need be and there are tops I should have brought from Jiangyin but didn’t.

Meanwhile, Tucker did an interview with a Canadian trucker to whose podcast I had been listening.

The news of a court saying that the government’s evoking of the emergency’s act to put down the truckers was illegal lead to a response from someone with whom I had had a big online spat:  can’t we just forget about!  (So many people stuck in 2021!)

There was talk of changing plans again.  That was, it was suggested that we spend tonight at Jia Zhou.  I quashed that idea, put the kibosh to it.

I watched the Tucker Carlson interview with Catturd this morning.  ‘‘Twas awesome!  Catturd was not at all what I imagined him to be based on his Twitter presence.  I imagined him to be like a writer.  In fact, he is a long time Rush Limbaugh fan who worked in construction because that’s what you have to do if you want to be artistic or creative.  Catturd is the same age as AKIC, and hates the Republican and Democrats.  He laments Ron Desantis’s decision to have entered the Republican primaries this year.

I made the Catturd interview the theme of my AKIC Daily Video:  https://wuxiandis.wordpress.com/2024/01/23/the-87th-akic-daily-bideo/

The sun rising from behind the building on the left.  Nice.

Coffee being brewed using my coffee pod machine. Nice.

My heel flaring up so that I have to painfully limp after sitting or lying down.  Not nice.

Desantis dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump. Nice.

I thought that from the get go, Desantis deciding to run in 2024 was a mistake.  For one thing, the Trump drama had to play out and there was no way that Desantis was going to be able make the Republican base forget what happened in 2020 and ignore the subsequent political persecution through lawfare that the Democrats are waging on Trump.  Some may never forgive Desantis for his political opportunism.  Which is too bad because he is a good governor and was the best in the world for dealing with Covid. In a more enlightened age, he would be a shoo-in for President.  But we don’t live in that age.  There is an extreme polarization and for the good guys to win, muscle will be needed.  Trump is that muscle, for all his brashness and clumsiness.  Trump shows how irrationally driven are the bad guys.  Hopefully, Desantis and Vivik can play a role in the battle when and if Trump is reelected.

Trump’s only opponent now in the Republican primaries is Nikki Haley.  War Karen!  Dick Cheney in high heels! Jeb Bush 2!  Self proclaimed victim!  No tanks!

What AI says about my full name

The name "Andis Edmunds Kaulins" appears to have Baltic and Germanic origins.

The given name "Andis" is a variant of the name "Andreas" or "Andrew," which has Greek origins. It is derived from the Greek name "Andreas," meaning "man" or "warrior." "Andis" may be a Latvian or Lithuanian form of the name.

The surname "Kaulins" is of Latvian origin. It is a patronymic surname derived from the given name "Kauls," which means "bone" in Latvian. The suffix "-ins" is a common Latvian surname ending, denoting "son of" or indicating descent.

The middle name "Edmunds" also suggests a Baltic influence. "Edmunds" is a Latvian form of the name "Edmund," which is of Old English origin. It is composed of the elements "ead," meaning "wealth" or "prosperity," and "mund," meaning "protector." It is possible that the individual with this name has Latvian heritage or connections to the Baltic region.

So: Man, Warrior, son of bone, wealth, prosperity, protector.

Another change of plan.  My wife Jenny is still in Wuxi.  She says the Jia Zhou apartment is too cold.  So, she’ll be driving here and staying with us in the Jiangyin apartment tonight and then we’ll be heading to Wuxi tomorrow.

This day has had more plot twists than an overwritten thriller!

So, there will still be more views of Jiangyin blog entries this month.

Take back all I said in the previous entry.  This is what is going to happen now:  Jenny will come to Jiangyin, this afternoon or evening, to take us back to Wuxi.  All the stuff we pack here gets taken to the new apartment, but we’ll sleep in Jia Zhou, the old apartment for two more night.

So this should be the last view from Jiangyin until February.  But don’t hold me to it.  Things make change again.

Update:  It turns out that there will be a few more views from the Jiangyin apartment.  I’ll explain

The Chinese , they say, ain’t religious, but they sure is superstitious.  We can’t move into the new apartment till the 24th. Why?  It would be bad luck, according to my wife Jenny, to do otherwise.  That didn’t sink into my cranium till just now.  I could go to the old apartment in Wuxi — the Jiazhou apartment — today,  but I don’t want to deal with the hassle of packing and unpacking stuff twice.  So, we’ll go to Wuxi and move directly to the new apartment on the 24th: an auspicious day.

A buddy of mine in Wuxi is feeling stresses on account of having to renew his passport.  He tried to phone the Canadian consulate in Shanghai but could only get a message saying to visit the consulate.  So he visited the consulate and they told him he had to make an appointment.  He was able to talk someone about the process.  He learned that there had been staff cuts.  And there was also sone detail about needing a Canadian credit card to pay for the new passport.  Like me, he hadn’t had a Canadian credit card for many years.  He had to find a contact in China who did, to pay for him.  To add to his stress, his visa also expires the day his passport expires.  He needs the consulate to quickly renew his passport.  Good luck with that.  He told me he hated the Canadian government..

Jerry Seinfeld said that in  following Sportsball, one is cheering for laundry.  An apt observation.  And the laundry that many major league sportsbsll teams are wearing these days is hideous.  Is the concept of beauty a white idea that must be crushed at all costs?  Case in point is  the Detroit Lions.  The fact that this team is experiencing a little success is ruined for me by the sight of their wearing pajama style uniforms.  Dark tops and dark pants makes them look like a high school team…

Meanwhile, the Buffalos had another tragic loss on account of a missed field goal,

Good morning!  At least, what’s left of it.

Teachers at the other schools are working today, but not me.  Ha ha ha ha!

I am paying now for all the walking I did with Tony yesterday.  I was limping around like a gimp yesterday evening.  And this morning, I limped upon getting out of bed.  And then it takes a few minutes for my foot to let me walk normally.

This could be the last view that you’ll see from Jiangyin for a few weeks.  Jenny will pick up the boys and take them to Wuxi & the new apartment this afternoon.
