This is my wife Jenny and Tony at the Ling Shan Big Buddha on the shores of Tai Lake near Wuxi, China, about a year ago.
The K family is planning on going to the Big Buddha tomorrow. Not a thing that a family on a budget should do especially if they have been to the attraction many times before. But the wife insists, and I agree with her reasoning.

When Jenny was pregnant, we went to the Ling Shan Buddha to pray for a healthy baby. Rare AKIC readers know that our prayers were answered. So the wife has made a point of going back to the shrine once a year in thanks. We must go tomorrow because she made the promise in her prayers.
To be thankful, they say, is the key to happiness
