2010's first quote and link entry

An interesting take on Obama.

The Copenhagen Conference was a farce, which is a shame says David Warren because we do have environmental problems.

we do need to think about ways to reduce our actual "environmental footprints," strange as this must sound coming from me. We do have major pollution problems, coming out of China and through all the "third world" as massive populations are raised out of abject poverty, wherever old-fashioned capitalism is permitted.

Why are these still Leftists in the world when it has been proven over and over again that their ideas are wrong?

From PG Wodehouse's  My Man Jeeves

Rocky, you see, lived down on Long Island somewhere, miles away from New York; and not only that, but he had told me himself more than once that he never got up before twelve, and seldom earlier than one. Constitutionally the laziest young devil in America, he had hit on a walk in life which enabled him to go the limit in that direction. He was a poet. At least, he wrote poems when he did anything; but most of his time, as far as I could make out, he spent in a sort of trance. He told me once that he could sit on a fence, watching a worm and wondering what on earth it was up to, for hours at a stretch.

(*Maybe Wodehouse tells you why I am attracted to poetry.  But, Pascal also said that "..we do not know in what grace consists, which is the object of poetry." -- that is another reason for my attraction, I like to believe.)

A study indicates that you can spank your child till six years of age.  After six, you can risk damaging the child permanently.  Or so they say....

"Obama is a symbol."
AGREED. that's it. and a fake symbol at that.

"Bad Ideas never die
Why are these still Leftists in the world when it has been proven over and over again that their ideas are wrong?"

Because they are also in charge of education. So they just don't teach the fact that they pushed the same ideas years ago... don't worry about it. Nobody will remember. Thomas Sowell has a new book about "intellectuals in society." all about this...

"When to use the rod"
Spare the rod spoil the child. Still the truth. and never out of anger... always in love.
