I know of the movie American Pie by reputation. I never saw the film. So it distresses me to learn to the Toner is the nickname or name of a character in the movie. I thank a rare reader for pointing this out to me (see comment for WTU 127).
So, I will have to find a new nickname for Tony. Do any of my rare readers have any suggestions?
And Damn the people who have to pollute the culture and ruin seemingly nice sounding words.

What you call your son is obviously you and your wife's own business. I'm pleased that you didn't respond to my comment with abuse. Cyberspace can be a cruel place, so I'm impressed with your response.
There was no character in 'American Pie' named 'The Toner', but there was one character called: Steve Stifler. During the movie the character refers to himself as "The Stiffmeister".
I think your son is going to be one smart kid, bilingual, with a future in a choice of locations. I just feel that 'The Toner' sets him up as some slacker whose only claim to fame is a series of party tricks with a keg of beer.
My choice of a nickname? I think 'Tony' looks just great when written on a screen.
