Let’s start with the now. Here is what’s currently going on at the excavation slash construction site that can be seen from the WJ apartment.
What in the Sam Hill is going on there?
Now to the before.
Up early, I was, for the JJ Half Marathon. It was fun high-fiving and thumbs-upping the participants. The work part was annoying. I had to resist feeling guilty about not being able to schelp boxes of water bottles and boxes of coconut water bottles here and there. And there was the constantly having to move our tables around, as some seemingly next higher up guy would say the placement of a table and the water cups on the tables wasn’t kosher. When the race ended, there was a lot of drink and food left over, and it was curious to see workers and volunteers mobbing to get free stuff.
Here are some photos I took.
Here are some photos others took.
I don’t much care for the last two photos. They make me like an old fart!
Here is a photo of the winner of the half Marathon:
After the race, I did seemingly a half marathon’s worth of walking. Somehow, the foreigners I was with got screwed up about how to go to the restaurant for the volunteer lunch. I was told we could walk to the lunch, but when a bus carrying volunteers in the wrong direction left, I thought that the restaurant location had changed from last year. The other foreigners insisted on taking a Didi to the restaurant but I more obstinately insisted on walking. I used my Apple Maps to guide my walk there and I was 15 minutes late for the dinner. Annoyed, I made it harder on myself by not responding to calls asking where I was. I walked about 2 kms.
I took this photo of the Jiangyin City government building along the way.
So, I was in a grumpy and martyrish mood at lunch. After, I walked 3 km to the Zhongshan Park Metro station where I took the S1 to Yanqiao and then walked another kilometer to WJ Casa Kaulins. There, I was able to get the car and drive to parking garage across from the Hui Shan Wanda Mall. I went to Hot Maxx to buy drinks and snacks, Sikenna to buy bread, Bread Talk to buy donuts, and McDonald’s for Tony’s lunch. I had to make two trips to the car to offload stuff. So more walking!
