Funky Funky Groovy!
Groovy Groovy Funk Down!
Funky Funky Groovy!
A Chemistry teacher at my school has a signed posted in a classroom that says “Chemists have all the solutions!” I think it be cooler and more humorous if there was a sign that said “Acid is groovy!”
All I saw in Huaxi was a symptom of an amazing hubris. I never saw tributes to Chairman Mao that were so over the top.
I have heard so many anecdotes and rumors about the Covid policies around these parts that I am reluctant to travel anywhere. For instance, I have heard that an outsider goes to Shanghai, they can’t enter public places for five days.
There is suspicion that lockdowns will come around Chinese New Year. It has become a truism to say that lockdowns always seem to happen around holidays.
I am able to watch a World Cup match in the evening. However, the first Canada game and the USA-England game were at 3:00 AM in the morning.
I consoled the teacher from Ghana, who was disappointed with his country’s loss to Portugal, that at least his country had scored goals…
Maybe it would be better if Canada didn’t score any goals in the 2022 World Cup and missed a few penalties while doing so.
I wonder what the size proportion of a puck to a hockey net compares to a football to a soccer net.

Cherry Bomb and AKIC
I took the previous photos on a school field trip. Here I am with a student whose English name is Cherry Bomb.
Forgive Them for They Know Not What They Do?
Is this the attitude I should take to Mainland Chinese Drivers? I suppose I should, but it is so hard. Their level of impatience and selfishness is astonishing to behold.
I just had a driver try to cut me off as I was driving out of the parking garage. I was able to stop the driver from doing this and I really took my time and slowed that driver’s impatient ass down so that he honked his horn. I don’t think that driver deserves forgiveness.

Wax Figure and Statue
In the village of Huaxi, the local Chairman, who died in 2013, has been honored with statues and a museum that has a wax figure of him. Under his leadership, the village became the richest in all of China.

Some Canals of Jiangyin
The first canal is in the Jiangyin city core.
I Voted for Trunp
What do you need to eat for? Eating is for people who need to eat.
A: Can I have some money?
B: No! It’s our money!
I get in these frames of mind where I just say screw it. Screw it!
World Cup 2022. Canada’s team is full of black guys. I asked my son about this.
My son say he heard about Xi dressing down Jacinda in Bali on TikTok.
Now men have to have a Day? There already is a Day for men who have to have a day. It’s called Women’s Day. Refuse to be a victim. [Written in response to a Happy International Men’s Day posting. I wasn’t having anything of it.]
I voted to reinstate Trump on Twitter. But I wish Elon Musk had just done it. What was the point of his buying Twitter otherwise? Still, I can say I voted for Trump.

Salming
It brought tears to my eyes to see Bōrje Salming being honored by the Toronto Maple Leafs. While he was not a player I cheered for back when I was paying attention to hockey, Salming was a familiar figure of whom I now have gone reminiscences.
Watching hockey was one of the best parts of my childhood. I lived with the players in my youth because sadly childhood friendships were not so good. It cuts me to the quick when I hear of their passing. Guy Lafleur. Tony Esposito.
I cried the first time I watched Pride of the Yankees. So something about Salming’s fight with ALS cannot help but touch one.

Cat near the Class
Cats everywhere in my part of Jiangyin; whether around the school or the apartment. I saw the one in the photo above outside my window. It was all tensed up; it seemed ready to pounce. Then it shrugged.

Hither and Dither Parking
These cars are presumably parked there because they are dropping off their children at the school where I teach. The vehicle on the right had no driver in it when I walked past. Strange sight.
