11:47 AM: Miscellany

Apparently, my country has a new PM.

Here are some miscellaneous observations from the weekend that I’ll mention now because it just occurred to me to do so.

We took a truck route, part of the way to Nantong.  It is annoying to drive among trucks in China.  Like most Chinese drivers, truckers don’t segregate themselves into fast and slow lanes.  So it is a constant game of trying to pass a slow vehicle as you drive on a truck route.  When behind these trucks as well,  one can’t see what’s ahead.  For instance, we were stuck at a red light for ten minutes and had no idea why till we got to the intersection.  There, we saw that an accident had occurred and the police had put up a blue folding wall to stop drivers by to see the carnage.  An abiding image in my memory.

Friday night, we had a taxi driver who was talkative but off putting.  I did try to engage in conversation with him and my attempts at speaking were fifty percent successful. However, he showed me a WeChat Weixin channel video of a Chinese aircraft carrier.  I didn’t pick up on what he was getting at.  Tony later told me that the driver was telling me that China was going to go to war.  Now, I ask with who?  Or is the Chinese economy about to tank?

How did I withstand the challenge of the 11-1130 class with the Grade 12s?  I ran out the clock.

Gorillas and retards and Apes!
