I went home, dropped off my backpack, and walked to the nearest Mom&Pop to buy a pack of cigarettes and a package of peanuts. I took photos along the way. Super Bock is a Portuguese beer that I bought at Hot Maxx. I was boycotting American liquor before it was cool, and will continue to boycott when Canadians find other things to be mad about.
I listened to this podcast while I went on my jaunt.
I learned that Latvia won its first ever Oscar: a short animation film that I must watch. I don’t think I’ll watch Annora. I love listening to the female co-hosts. Their talk is intelligent — they’re not Karens! — and focuses on details that this loner male never would think to focus on. Their talk is also very urbanly hip.
Now the walk photos!
I took the above three photos as I was waiting to cross Furong Avenue. This is what it looks like under an elevated road. It is depressing. Pedestrians feel out of place among all the many lanes of truck and car traffic.
This building is on the corner that is directly across Furong Road from our school. I hope this place becomes a mall.
This path leads to the shop.
Coming back from the shop, I saw a fast train. It was too late to take a photo of it. Damn!
The final photo I took was of the empty section of unoccupied commercial space that fronts our apartment community.
The store fronts are above the road level making it inaccessible to passing traffic.
