Those are words for foreigner in the local parlance.
With my son with his buddies, and my wife at work, I decided to wander on my lonesome in downtown Wuxishire which was full of National Day crowds.
Maybe many of the people wandering were from the rural parts of China because I heard them say “Laowai! and “Waiguoren!” at least forty times.
