Monday, July 1, 2024.  Dominion Day in Canada — that’s all I’ll have to say about it.  Perhaps, I may see someone post something about it in the Canadian group.  I may post a belated one about it tomorrow.

Last evening, it stopped raining.  I went for a long walk which you can see video of in today’s AKIC Daily Video.

Today, my wife says we’ll drive to her parents again.

Just got back from a walk where I was on the shores of the canal you can see behind the apartment towers.  I took some great video which I will upload tomorrow.

A lot of teachers in Wuxi are catching flights out of China these days.  What a bunch of carpetbaggers!

Look closely and you’ll see that most of the cars that were parked on the road have moved.  The ones still parked will get ticketed.

I drive my darling wife to her work.  I then parked the car and walked to the nearby stadium for some oval walking.  But there was ceremony for railway workers and the track was occupied.  I still did my reading and rosary on the terraces.

As a people, the Chinese are what they are.  Affected by their circumstances, most of them are alright.  However, as drivers, they are worse than Nazis, Wokists, Pol Pott enthusiasts, and people who think Joe Biden is in control of his faculties.  Go through my blog, and you’ll find a litany of complaints I have against them.  Today, I’ll blog about two.

First, a fucking moron local driver, in front of us, slowed down and drifted between lanes.  We past him to see he was talking on his phone.

And then there was this:

This special person was stopped in front of the gate to the complex, playing on his mobile phone.  Being stopped where he was, was certainly an annoyance to anyone wanting to enter the complex.  What an unselfaware moron.

One detail of the view photo to notice is the number of cars parked on the road.

Last night, I picked up my wife and then my son from their work.

My son Tony is at work, my wife Jenny is at work.  I’m at the 27th floor Ivy Park Apartment.  I’ll sit around till I have to pick them up from their work.  I’ll listen to podcasts or read some Chateaubriand,

Here’s a podcast I’m halfway through:

Biden & Trump had their debate.  Trump seemed to have had the better of it.  I’ve read suggestions that Biden will have to have a pillow placed on him very soon,

I  should have taken a view photo two and one half hours ago.  I forgot. Oh well.  Better late than never.

I drove my wife to her work.  I wait for my son to get up so I can drive him to his boxing class.

I plan to walk laps of the track, despite the rain.

I took this photo when I got back from driving my wife Jenny to work:

I can back in; the two other idiots who park near us, now, can’t.

Doing a lot of driving lately, I have not yielded till now to the temptation to complain about the drivers, but this morning, I saw a bit of impatient driving and now I am “inspired.”   There is a book about China, that was written over a hundred years ago, titled “What is Wrong with China.” A memorable passage in it made the observation that an Chinaman travels through his day being totally oblivious to others.  I can attest to seeing many examples of Chinese drivers being this way.  I have seen many make right turns without looking, cutting into queues, and making u-turns when and where traffic conditions would suggest they shouldn’t,  This morning, I saw a driver make a right turn into a road full up with moaning rush hour traffic.  Why the driver that was cut off didn’t give him the what-for was a mystery to me.

Funny how I was all primed to watch the Stanley Cup game 7, only to have it slip my mind.  I learned the Oilers lost from my son who dejectedly told me what had happened.  My first reaction was it slipped my mind.  I didn’t bother to watch the highlights.  Game 7s in hockey now are boring to watch.  The games are close checking and teams play not to lose more than they try to win.

Today afternoon, my son Tony & I (I being AKIC) went to downtown Wuxi.  We took the Metro there.  We went to Hen Long, Wuxi Yaohan and Nanchang Temple Market.  Tony bought some basketball posters of Doncic and Nash.

I bought a used book:

I also bought a can of Russian Beer:

I went to the nearby track and prayed the rosary as I did laps.

I also just got kicked out of a group.  Probably a good thing that I was. Too bad the Oilers lost that game 7.

The Biden Trump debate is going to be a clown show.  No serious issues will be discussed honestly.  Biden will have to lie about his regime’s performance.  Biden will call Trump names.  Biden will say stupid slogans.  Trump will have to return the insults..,

My son Tony is at work now.  My darling wife is at work.  I’m on holiday.  I don’t see the advantage in it.  Guilt trips outweigh benefits.

Today I did this:

My wife has taken a disliking to the Kaiyi hospital so we’re going to do my appendectomy in the Wuxi Army Hospital.  This hospital is bigger and more crowded than the Kaiyi.  To drive around its parking lot is an adventure.  To take the elevators there is as annoying as driving in rush-hour traffic.  The place has an aged and worn out feel to it like every older building in China eventually has.

The hospital is called the Army hospital because it services army personnel and many of its staff are army people.  The doctor I had an appointment with was in uniform.  My wife wouldn’t let me ask what his rank was.  Researching on my own, I am lead to believe he was a Senior Colonel.  He had four stars on his epaulettes. He was well put out.

Later I did this:

It was a good thing that I found this because I would have had to put up with my wife’s constant moaning about losing this bracelet.

As we drove back from the Army Hospital, we saw this;

A car with four ‘8’s in its license plate.  This is considered very lucky in China; kind of like a license plate with lots of ‘7’s.  Anyway, its driver drove like a prick, at one point cutting into a queue.

In the afternoon, I took the Metro downtown.  I wandered around Nanchang temple to see how it had changed,  I was first there in 2003.

What will happen first?  650,000 page views at AKIC blogspot or 2,500,000 views at my YouTube channel.  I am closing in on both milestones.

All the while, I listened to this podcast:

This day, I napped and spent too much time on the phone.

I walked to the Wanda Mall today.  It was a habit that had been interrupted by Plum Rain Season.

At the Mall, I had lunch with my lovely Commander in Chief at a Hong Kong Style Restaurant.  Here’s a picture of a doggy bag from it:

The restaurant also had an eye-catching decor. And nice tissue packets:

I then went to my wife’s office and took this photo from the window:

I think that’s our apartment complex in the distance.

Here is our apartment complex close up:

Same building you think?

Here are some rubber duckies that came with some ice tea we bought;
