You’re Slow!

“ You’re slow!” said my son to me as we were walking to the bus stop.

Till then a major charge against me was that I was always in a hurry, never patient.

This is a big change.

Oh well. I’m getting old.  58.

A Tweet about RFK Jr.

If he was so on the ball about Fauci.  Sad, he has to be in league with the Faucis of climate change activism,

Mother Throws Her Daughter’s Smartphone into a Canal

One morning when dropping off her daughter at my school, a mother threw her daughter’s iPhone into a canal* that was near the school entrance.  The daughter was distraught, as would be expected.  I witnessed her and some of her classmates standing at the edge of  the canal wondering how to retrieve the phone.  Onlookers urged her to swim in the dirty water and get it.  She would have nothing to do with this.

Her father came to the rescue.  He hired a person with diving equipment to go into the water and find the phone.  This cost about 2,000 RMB.  (The IPhone probably cost about 12,000) The next day, the student happily showed off her phone, which was working fine.  It had been in the water for about eighteen hours.

Why did her mother throw the phone into the canal?  She was not happy with her daughter’s academic performance.

*there are pictures of the canal to be found in this blog, like in the previous entry.

Do you like English Literature?

‘Do you like literature?’ I asked a disinterested student.

‘No’ replied the student.

‘Why?’ I asked.

‘I don’t like literature.’

‘Do you like stories?’

‘Yes.’

‘What kind?’

‘Magic.  Harry Potter.’

Maybe the student was just saying that.  But he may have had a point.  Teach stories, not fiction with an axe to grind.  That’s dull.

Breakfast

Not working today so I can have breakfast in the apartment.  Youtiao (deep fried dough sticks) and coffee.

My apartment in the daytime

Maybe you can see my laundry hanging on the left, and my bedroom curtains on the right.

Some Youtube Viewing Channels

My Youtube channel is @wuxiandis.  It has over 2,285,000 views currently.  I have that many views on account of one viral video and thousands of attempts to reduplicate that effort,

Below are my recent efforts;

I thought the bottom video was most interesting but it had no views.  Why is that?

Taking photos of my wife

It’s scary for me to take photos of my wife.  She always says I make her look fat.  I tell her I don’t think so — I honestly don’t — but she doesn’t care:  she looks fat.

I say this because the photos below of me in a suit are of me in my wedding suit.  When she looked at the photos, she could only lament that she couldn’t fit into her wedding dress.

Now, I’m scared to have photos of me taken.

Fasting

What’s the deal with fasting?  Why isn’t it called slowing on account of you’re slowing down on your food intake?

Interesting Sights

I saw a bird pick up, with its bill, a foot long stick.  I didn’t have time to take a video of it The bird flew off into the distance, stopping twice like a person carrying a heavy thing.

I also saw a man taking a nap under the tree.  I didn’t take a photo, but I thought of a web site called Chinese Sleeping where people could submit photos of people in China taking outdoor naps.  The man I saw was sleeping on rough looking ground, I thought.  But then, to each his own, I thought, feeling like I could use a nap myself.

Equity

I just read a definition of racism that says it is racist to believe in equality but not in equity.  Talk about an imprecise definition!  Equality of what?  Opportunity? Talent? Ability?  Strangely, it is the equity that makes sense in this definition because it obviously refers to equality of results.  Anyway, the definition tries to seem precise by its use of big-sounding words.  Hopefully, all people who are capable of reflection can see the definition means nothing in particular.

It’s also racist, apparently, to deny self-conscious bias and refuse to engage in self-reflection and education.  I suppose that means that you’re racist if even you try hard not to be.  All I know is, if a white person engages with people who aren’t white, it is hard in this day and age, to not think about their race because “anti-racists” have so poisoned these encounters.  It is akin to a man trying hard to deny self conscious bias when in the presence of a beautiful woman.  What are you going to do?  Try your best to be a gentleman.  But that is not good enough.

Misinformation

Anyone who uses the term ‘misinformation’ is not to be trusted.  I would even go far as to say that they should be barred from polite company.  These people are stooges for the regime.

What They’ve Done with An Old Covid Testing Station

I took many a video while standing in line at this place.  Now it has become an outdoor reading lounge.

Vegas versus Jets

I hope the Jets win, but if they don’t, it doesn’t matter.  Hockey in July is punishment.

Hate Speech

Is ‘hate’ bad?  No.  Not at all.  It is an emotion or attitude, nothing more.

It is dumb to hate ‘hate’ as it is to make sentences with double negatives.

To call someone a hater is an act of hate, as well as illogical.

Crime that is categorized as hate crime implies an opposite: love crime.

Is an act of assault that is classified as a hate crime worse than an act of assault that isn’t classified as a hate crime.

Are there hate crimes and just ‘crime’ crimes?

Is this post an example of hate speech?

Biden versus Trump

If by chance, it’s Biden versus Trump in 2024, I’d hope Trump would win.  Trump has his flaws of course; but he has far, far less flaws than Biden who is just absolutely cuckoo.  Anyone who would think Biden was a sane or normal alternative to Trump is so blinded by hatred of Trump to think straight or rationally.

If you want to get a honest appraisal of Trump, you have to consult those who were disappointed by him.  That is to say those who voted for him, were disappointed by him and yet would vote for him against Biden.

Trump got co-opted by the swamp.  He should never have made that compromise.

Two Busloads: The Buses Were Black

Driving my son to his drumming lesson which is in Downtown Wuxi, I now pass the train station because a new bridge has been constructed which gets us to the drum place easier.

This Saturday, just before the turnoff to the new bridge, my son & I saw a whole lot of police cars, two black police buses (or coaches) and probably a hundred or so policemen.  They were crowded in front of an entrance to an under-construction apartment community.  I hazard to speculate why.  My first guess is that place has run out of money and a lot of people aren’t very happy. But as I say, that is speculation on my part.

The Climate Change Agenda

Do climates change? Yeah.  Always have, always will.

Is the Clinate Change Agenda being pushed by many governments the proper thing to do?  No.  It’s either sheer lunacy or a cynical power grab.

Gun Control

I’m against it.  It causes genocide and tyranny.

Gun Control advocates are often heartless people who don’t want people to have the right to defend themselves.

Trump versus Obama

Obama was elected because he was black.  He wasn’t very accomplished before he became president.

Trump on the other hand, had to be his own man to be elected president.  And he had some real world accomplishments before he became president.

Dumocracy

Joe Biden says he wants to save Dumocracy.

I say he says because I don’t think he is capable of an original or an intelligent thought.

Never Forgive, Never Forget

Never forgive and forget what the lockdowners did.
